About Justice Prateek Jalan

Justice Prateek Jalan serves as a Judge at the High Court of Delhi. Born on April 4, 1970, in Calcutta, he completed his early education at Modern School, New Delhi, and graduated from Hindu College, University of Delhi. He pursued law at Trinity College, University of Cambridge, as a Cambridge Nehru Centenary scholar, and further obtained an LL.M. from the University of Michigan Law School. Enrolled as an Advocate in August 1992, Justice Jalan has been called to the English Bar from the Inner Temple, London. He commenced his legal practice before the High Court of Calcutta and has extensive experience practicing before the Supreme Court of India and the Delhi High Court. Justice Jalan was elevated as a Judge of the High Court of Delhi on October 22, 2018.

About the Opportunity

Position: Legal Researcher
Location: High Court of Delhi

Justice Prateek Jalan, High Court of Delhi, is inviting applications for the position of a Legal Researcher. This role provides a unique opportunity to work closely with a respected judicial authority and gain practical experience in legal research and analysis.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Qualification:
    • Candidates must be enrolled with a Bar Council.
  2. Assessment Period:
    • Shortlisted applicants will be required to undergo an assessment period of 4-6 weeks at the discretion of Hon’ble Justice Jalan.
  3. Joining Date:
    • Candidates must be available to join the assessment period starting early January 2025

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Conduct in-depth legal research and prepare analytical reports on assigned cases.
  2. Assist the Hon’ble Judge with case preparation, drafting, and referencing.
  3. Stay updated with recent legal developments and judicial precedents.
  4. Work collaboratively in a professional and confidential environment.
