Poovayya & Co. is inviting applications for the role of Business Development Manager at its Bengaluru office. This is a full-time, on-site role starting from August/September 2025, offering a high-impact opportunity for experienced professionals in the legal business development domain. Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Law, or related field
- MBA or advanced degree preferred
- Professional certifications in business development or marketing are a plus
Experience:
- Minimum 5–8 years of business development experience in professional services
- Prior experience in law firms, consulting, or legal services industry highly preferred
- Understanding of Indian legal market and corporate legal needs
- Proven track record in client acquisition and relationship management
Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English
- Strong relationship-building and networking skills
- Proficiency in CRM software, Canva, MS Office Suite, and BI tools
- Strategic and analytical thinking with attention to detail
- Project management skills
- Understanding of legal terminology and practice areas
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Indian corporate law and regulatory environment
- Network within the Indian business/legal community
- International business development experience
- Fluency in additional Indian languages
Responsibilities
Client Acquisition & Relationship Management:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities
- Build and maintain relationships with corporate clients and general counsel
- Conduct needs assessments and tailor legal service offerings
- Drive client retention and cross-selling strategies
Strategic Planning & Implementation:
- Develop business development strategies aligned with firm goals
- Collaborate with partners and senior associates
- Track market trends and competitors
- Generate reports and analytics for management
Pitching & Proposals:
- Prepare and lead pitches and RFP responses
- Manage proposal submissions and deadlines
- Present firm capabilities to prospective clients
Marketing & Events:
- Organize networking events and seminars
- Manage participation in legal conferences
- Coordinate with marketing for campaigns and content
- Oversee digital marketing and rankings submissions (e.g., Chambers, Legal 500)
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Engage with lawyers and partners across all practice areas
- Conduct internal business development training
- Maintain CRM systems
- Provide market intelligence to legal teams
