ABOUT THE COURSE INSTRUCTOR
Dr. Parineeta Goswami (Assistant Professor of Law, School of Law, UPES, Dehradun)
Dr. Parineeta Goswami is an Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) in Dehradun, India. With a comprehensive academic background and over five years of teaching experience, she has established herself as a dedicated educator and a researcher of note in the field of law. Dr. Goswami’s academic credentials include a Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com), Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.), and a Master of Laws (LL.M.), where she was honoured as a Silver Medalist for her outstanding performance. She also holds the distinction of being awarded the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in 2018, which further highlights her commitment to academic excellence.
Dr. Goswami completed her Ph.D. from the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL) in Punjab in March 2024. Her doctoral research focused on “Insolvency and Bankruptcy Law in India: A Critique,” supervised by Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, an Associate Professor at RGNUL. This work reflects her deep engagement with the complexities of insolvency and bankruptcy, which are pivotal areas in corporate law.
In addition to her academic qualifications, Dr. Goswami is pursuing the final stage of the Company Secretary (CS) course, demonstrating her dedication to enhancing her expertise in corporate governance and compliance. Her diverse educational background equips her with a comprehensive understanding of legal principles, particularly in the realms of Corporate Law, Banking & Insurance Laws, and Insolvency and Bankruptcy Laws.
Dr. Parineeta Goswami is a distinguished legal scholar whose academic achievements, teaching experience, and commitment to research have positioned her as a leading figure in her field. With a focus on Corporate Law, Banking & Insurance Laws, and Insolvency and Bankruptcy Laws, she continues to inspire future legal professionals while advancing legal scholarship in India and beyond.
Dr. Goswami has made significant contributions to legal scholarship through her teaching and research. She is affiliated with DTH No. 6 of Swayam Prabha, an initiative sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, where she serves as a Subject Matter Expert. Her teaching philosophy centers on fostering critical thinking, encouraging students to engage actively with legal concepts and to understand their practical implications in real-world scenarios.
Her research expertise is underscored by a substantial publication record. Dr. Goswami has authored textbooks addressing crucial issues in the legal domain, including “Legal Aspects of Recovery and Reduction of Non-Performing Assets in Banking Industries” and “Emergency Arbitration Procedures.” Additionally, she has contributed to an edited volume titled “Handbook on Traditional Pedagogy and Contemporary Approaches,” alongside publishing numerous papers in prestigious journals indexed by Scopus, UGC CARE, and other peer-reviewed platforms.
As a testament to her scholarly influence, Dr. Goswami has participated as a resource person and guest speaker at various national and international legal events. Her contributions have significantly enriched discussions on pressing topics in insolvency and arbitration. Notably, she was a keynote speaker at the 1st International Conference on Gender Studies and Social Studies in Colombo, Sri Lanka, where she delivered a lecture on the intersection of new criminal laws and gender equality.
Dr. Goswami’s commitment to advancing legal education and research is evident in her role as a coordinator for various university committees and her active participation in professional organizations. She is a member of several notable associations, including the International Institute of Engineers and Researchers (IIER), the Global Academy of Law-Tech Education and Research (GALTER), and the South Asian Society of Criminology and Victimology (SASCV). Her involvement in these organizations reflects her dedication to collaborative research and her efforts to stay abreast of the latest developments in legal scholarship.
In addition to her teaching and research responsibilities, Dr. Goswami has served on the advisory and editorial boards of the journal KnowLaw and acts as a peer reviewer for the Law and Safety Journal. Her role in these capacities showcases her commitment to maintaining high standards in legal scholarship and her dedication to supporting the development of emerging legal researchers.
Dr. Goswami has garnered recognition for her work in the legal community through her presentations at national and international seminars and conferences. Her paper on “Community-Based Restorative Justice Initiatives” was shortlisted among the top three submissions for the 1st International Conference on Criminology & Criminal Justice, further illustrating her impactful contributions to contemporary legal discourse.
Dr. Goswami’s leadership skills have been demonstrated in her roles as chairperson at various national legal events, including Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) competitions and moot court competitions. These experiences have equipped her with the ability to guide students in practical legal exercises while fostering an environment that encourages collaboration and critical engagement with legal principles.
