About the Organisation
National Human Rights Commission has been conducting internship programmes since 1998 to promote awareness and literacy in the field of Human Rights. The Commission offers structured internship programmes for university and college students to gain practical exposure to human rights issues and related legal frameworks.
Internship Programmes Offered
1. Summer / Winter In-Person Internship Programme
- Mode: Offline / In-Person
- Duration: 4 Weeks
- Period: Summer (June–July) / Winter (December–January)
- Stipend: ₹12,000 + Travel Allowance (3rd AC train fare)
Eligibility Criteria
- Students pursuing 2nd/3rd year of 3-year LL.B. course
- Students pursuing 4th/5th year of integrated 5-year LL.B. course
- LL.M. students
- Students pursuing PG Diploma / MA in Human Rights and other Social Science disciplines
- Minimum 60% marks in Class XII and attended semesters
- Age should not exceed 28 years
- Must be enrolled in regular courses at UGC-recognized universities
Selection Process
- Statement of Purpose (300–500 words) on “Reason for Joining as Intern in NHRC”
- Selection based on:
- Class XII Marks – 30 Marks
- Graduation Marks – 40 Marks
- Statement of Purpose – 30 Marks
2. Online Short Term Internship Programme (OSTI)
- Mode: Virtual / Online
- Duration: 2 Weeks
- Stipend: ₹2,000
Eligibility Criteria
- Students studying in 3rd year onwards of integrated 5-year PG course
- Students in 3rd/final year of graduation
- Students of any semester/year of post-graduate degree or diploma course
- Research scholars in any stream
- Minimum 60% marks in Class XII and first four semesters
Selection Process
- Statement of Purpose (250 words) on “Reason for Joining as Intern in NHRC”
- Selection based on:
- Class XII Marks – 30 Marks
- Graduation Marks – 40 Marks
- Statement of Purpose – 30 Marks
