ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Position: Experienced Patent Agent (Associate Level) to join our Intellectual Property practice
Location: Bangalore
PQE: 3-5 years
About the Role:
- The role involves handling end-to-end patent drafting and prosecution matters, advisory work, and strategic IP support for clients across technology-driven industries.
- The ideal candidate will have prior experience working on patent filings in the electronics, computer science, software, and related innovation domains.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft patent specifications, amendments, technical descriptions, and responses to examination reports.
- Conduct patentability searches, freedom-to-operate (FTO) analysis, prior art searches, and landscape reports.
- Manage filing and prosecution of patent applications before the Indian Patent Office and international jurisdictions (USPTO, EPO, PCT).
- Coordinate with inventors, in-house counsel, R&D teams, and senior attorneys to develop IP strategies.
- Handle office actions, FER responses, oppositions, and hearings.
- Monitor deadlines, docketing schedules, and compliance requirements throughout the patent lifecycle.
- Assist in patent portfolio management, competitive intelligence, claim charting, and invalidity analysis.
- Support senior lawyers in research, client advisory notes, and due diligence assignments.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Registered Patent Agent with the Indian Patent Office (mandatory).
- M.E./B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech in Electronics or Computer Science.
- 3–5 years of post-qualification experience handling patent drafting and prosecution work.
- Strong technical acumen with the ability to dissect and understand complex engineering innovations.
- Excellent drafting, writing, research, and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with patent search tools, databases, procedural timelines, and global filing systems.
- Ability to work independently and in collaboration with senior team members.
