ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Dr. Aditya Sondhi (Senior Advocate; Former Additional Advocate General, State of Karnataka)

Dr. Aditya Sondhi is a Senior Advocate practising before the High Court of Karnataka and the Supreme Court of India. He served as the Additional Advocate General of Karnataka from 2016 to 2018 and has been appointed amicus curiae in several matters of public importance, including the speedy disposal of criminal cases against members of parliament and state legislatures implementation of the Right to Education Act, upkeep of infrastructure and removal of encroachments in the city of Bengaluru and health and safety of workers in a coal-fired thermal power plant. He was also recommended by the Supreme Court of India Collegium for elevation as a judge of the Karnataka High Court in February 2021.

Dr. Aditya Sondhi holds a master’s in political science and was awarded his Ph.D. by Mysore University for his thesis on “ The Interface between the Army and the Democracy: India & Pakistan Compared”. He has delivered lectures widely in India and abroad and has published two works of non-fiction with Penguin (India). He has also taught constitutional law, professional ethics, corporate law and arbitration as also a single credit course on ‘Courts and National Security” at the National Law School of India University of which he is a graduate.
