NATIONAL ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION BY JUS RERUM: REGISTER BY DECEMBER 12, 2020

ABOUT ORGANIZATION

The Jus Rerum is a platform which encourages autonomous scholarly ideas and developments, which instil a culture of exploration and inflame discussions on contemporary or multidisciplinary issues. With a mission to give a comprehensive detailing, progressively, exact, straightforward and open to everyone. We invite submissions from a plethora of students, academicians, law practitioners and every intellectual or knowledge enthusiast. 

We expect to create a platform of knowledge, focused on engendering and advancing discourse in the socio-legal field. This stage is available to all to peruse and compose. We aim at providing valuable contributions to contemporary legal, social, environmental, political, economic, and international issues and developments in the omnipresent space of knowledge to the masses.

The competition is open for:

  • All undergraduate and postgraduate students of any stream.
  • Students of 11th and 12th

HOW TO SUBMIT AN ENTRY?

RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. The Jus Rerum essay competition runs from the 10th November 2020 (Release of Event Notification) until 11:59 pm (IST) on the 23th December 2020.
  2. Entries must be received no later than 11:59 pm (IST) on the 12th December 2020 via Google Form.
  3. Jus Rerum reserves the right to disqualify any entries received after the competition has closed.
  4. Entries must not exceed the 1500-word limit (excluding references, headings and title text)
  5. Only one entry is allowed for Author(s).
  6. By entering the competition, you declare that the submitted work is entirely your own. Jus Rerum will immediately disqualify any work suspected of being plagiarised or suspected to be subject to academic misconduct.
  7. Submission must be written in English.
  8. By entering the competition, entrants declare that material does not infringe on any copyright or licenses. It remains the entrants’ responsibility to ensure this is the case. Jus Rerum is not liable for any losses as a result of entering this competition.
  9. The views expressed in the essays do not reflect on the views of Jus Rerum, and remain solely the views of the entrant.
  10. By entering the competition, you declare that all information provided is correct and not misleading, and you meet the eligibility requirements. If Jus Rerum suspects that any false information has been provided, or if an entrant is ineligible, the work will be disqualified.
  11. Jus Rerum reserves the right to withdraw applications at any stage for any reason determined appropriate by Jus Rerum.
  12. Jus Rerum reserves the right to extend or modify the closing date.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  1. The eligibility criteria and the deadlines shall be strictly followed. The submissions not adhering to any of these shall be rejected without any explanation.
  2. We follow a strict policy on academic fairness and plagiarism. The essay must be original work of the author and must not have been previously published.
  3. The author will retain the copyright of the work but agrees to grant the exclusive publication rights of the essay to Jus Rerum.
  4. The cash prizes will be disbursed in Indian National Rupees.
  5. By entering, all entrants agree to abide by each and every term and condition. Jus Rerum reserves the right to withhold prizes for violation of any of the terms and conditions.
  6. Entrants represent and warrant that their entry is the original work of the party named in the entry submission and that they have the full power and authority to enter the work in their own name.
  7. The entrant agrees to indemnify Jus Rerum for any infringements of, for example, statutory or common-law copyright, or 3rd party proprietary rights, or any other loss resulting from a breach of these warranties.
  8. Entries which contain, in the sole opinion of Jus Rerum, any material which is defamatory, obscene, illegal or inappropriate will be invalidated. Any misrepresentation or fraud will also invalidate the entry.
  9. Winners may be required to submit valid identification and proof of qualification or status as a student before receiving their prize.
  10. Entrants agree to allow the free use of their name, likeness, and general location for publicity and news purposes during this and future promotions.
  11. Jus Rerum reserves the right to withhold prizes for any invalidated entries. Jus Rerum accepts no responsibility for lost or delayed entries, data charges, or any other costs associated with the entry, nor will it be responsible for technical, hardware, or software failures of any kind or lost or unavailable network connections that may limit or prevent the person from participating in the Competition.
  12. Personal information collected will be used for Jus Rerum purposes only and managed in accordance with the Data Protection Law of India.
  13. The organizers reserve the right to amend the rules of the competition at any point in time during the competition. Participants will be notified about the same by email. In the event of any dispute, the decision of the organisers shall remain final.
  14. Any legal proceedings arising out of the competition/ its entries/ winners shall be subject to local jurisdiction of the High Court of Gwalior in the State of MP.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  1. The Essay language must be English Only.
  2. Co-authorship of up to two authors is allowed.
  3. Submissions should fall between 1000-1500 words in length. (Excluding References).
  4. By submitting an essay, the author undertakes that the article is an original work and has not been submitted, accepted, or published elsewhere.
  5. The articles should not be plagiarised more than 15%.
  6. The content should be written in Times New Roman Font with a size of 12. Line spacing should be 1.5, Justified.
  7. Submissions must be made in .doc/.docx formats only. Documents in pdf formats shall not be accepted.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The Essay will be selected keeping in mind the following criterion:

  1. How dynamic, contemporary is the topic.
  2. Central Theme & originality of ideas.
  3. Coherence and Organization in Structure.
  4. Clarity in Language, Expression and Style.
  5. Creativity & presentation.
  6. The manner of organizing the content.

PUBLICATION

  1. By entering the competition, the entrant grants Jus Rerum the right to reproduce, publish, and use the submitted work and entrants details as required for appropriate purposes, without royalty, commission or further reimbursement. The work will be attributed to the entrant/author at all times practicable.
  2. Jus Rerum reserves the right to modify and format the essays for publication purposes.
